Meet women who cracked UPSC despite parents death, now she

Some people overcome various challenges at an early age, ultimately attaining something exceptional and inspiring. Ritika Jindal, an IAS, has an inspiring life story.

Ritika, who grew up in Moga City, Punjab, excelled in school. Ritika topped the CBSE 12th Board exams, getting the best marks in all of North India. Later, she attended Sri Ram College of Commerce in Delhi. Ritika began preparing for UPSC in the third year of her graduation.

However, during Ritika’s preparations, her father was diagnosed with oral and lung cancer. Despite this, she maintained her education while also caring for her father at the hospital. However, she failed on her first attempt. Ritika passed UPSC on her second attempt in 2019 at the age of 22 with an 88th rank. However, both of her parents died when she was undergoing IAS training.

In an interview about her UPSC journey, Ritika remarked, “Seeing my father fighting for life gave me a lot of strength, and I worked hard for the exam.”

Currently, she is the Resident Commissioner in Pangi, Himachal Pradesh. Pangi is known as Himachal Pradesh’s ‘Kaala Paani’ because of its roads and remote villages.
